In common with all of our boilers Thor is manufactured to exacting standards, with robust fittings and quality materials being used throughout. In contrast to our gas fired boilers Thor is spirit fired.
For many the use of spirit as a fuel will help recall fond memories of earlier encounters with small steam engines and enable the sight sound and smell of a classic model to once again be enjoyed.
Each boiler is individually numbered, despatched with a report and detailed operating instructions.
Whilst not intended to deliver the performance or flexibility of our gas fired boilers Thor is never the less surprisingly efficient and easy to use.
Extensive use of castings has enabled the representation of many 'full size' details and includes realistic brickwork containing arches with key stone, inset name to each side, smoke box with door, hammer motive and twin dampers.
The pressure vessel is of the proven 'Smithies' type, silver soldered throughout, with a longitudinally stayed barrel, flanged end caps and three external recirculating water tubes.
Fittings include a miniature water gauge complete with blow down, whistle (styles may vary), loco style safety valve, pressure gauge with syphon and one ¼" x 40 tpi nut and cone steam connection.
Heat is derived from a vapourising spirit lamp which is simply charged with meths, lit and slid between guide rails up to a stop on the boilers base.
Finished in satin black and an attractive brick red to the sides Thor is pleasing on the eye and yet capable of reliably steaming small engines such as Cirrus.

If your model is in stock at the time of ordering, where possible your order is dispatched the same or next working day. If your model is in production at the time of ordering, your payment card is not charged until your model is ready for dispatch. Customers placing an order that they require to be delivered on or before a certain date are advised to contact us directly.
UK orders are usually dispatched using Parcelforce's tracked, 'express 24 hour' service. This service makes delivery on business days only and for outlying or remote parts of the UK may take longer than 24 hours.
International orders may use Parcelforce's rapid Global Express, Euro Priority Business or Global Priority services. The initial stages of the checkout will calculate shipping to your country and select the most cost efficient shipping method we use before you commit to ordering a model. These services are some of the few on the market advertised as tracked and require signature / monitor delivery.
For both UK and International parcels, we have negotiated a significant, double-digit discount with our carrier and this is passed on to the customer. Customers considering ordering more than one model are advised to email us directly to gain where possible a combined shipping quotation since the website calculates costs on each model being shipped individually.
